Setting up a Wordpress blog is easy. Setting up a Wordpress blog EFFECTIVELY isn’t so simple.

What theme do you chose, do you have adverts on the site, which adverts should you include and a question that is getting asked more and more is which plugins should you use?

All these questions and more are important. The theme you chose will give visitors their first impression of your blog. Does the theme fit your blogs subject, is it easy to navigate and even does the colour combination make the posts easy to read?  There are plenty of free themes out there but you may need to edit them slightly to fit your blog. Do you have the technical know-how to do this?  If not, you may want to hire someone to do it for you.

There are also a huge number of plugins available and its easy to go mad and install every plugin you think may add something to your site. When I set up a new blog, I only add plugins that will benefit my site. A while ago, I started using a free plugin which helped my sites considerably.
